Iran's Desperate Deed Against, Increasing Popularity of MEK

Iran's Desperate Deed Against, Increasing Popularity of MEK

Iran Focus
London, 27 Jun - What happened 29 years ago in Iran, and why after all these years, we are witnessing a crisis and a rising conflict among rival factions in the ruling class over that in Iran?
Throughout the summer of 1988 in Iran, some 30,000 political prisoners, the bulk of whom were MEK members or sympathizers, were executed. This year marks the 29th anniversary of that horrible Crime Against Humanity.
Last summer, an audio tape was revealed by the son of Hossein-Ali Montazeri. On August 9, 2016, the recording was heard for the first time, and thereon Khomeini’s former heir can be heard telling a gathering of members of the “Death Committee” that they're winding up a crime against humanity, 28 years ago, on august 15, 1988. Wrote M. Hakamian in INU on June 24, 2017 and the following are excerpts of the article.
The tape sent shockwaves through Iran, as it adds new knowledge of the breadth and scope of the massacre and confirms that it involved the highest levels of leadership. For more than two decades silence has been imposed in regards to the massacre because, you see, Iranian leaders who held positions of power at that time, members of the notorious Death Commission, are still in leadership positions today.
They have never faced justice for committing this horrific crime against humanity.
Hossein-Ali Montazeri, who was consequently dismissed as the heir by Khomeini, and subsequently spent the rest of his life under house arrest, for the very remarks heard on the audio tape, tells members of the Death Commission, who include Hossein-Ali Nayyeri, the sharia judge, Morteza Eshraqi, the prosecutor, Ebrahim Raeesi, deputy prosecutor, and Mostafa Pourmohammadi, representative of the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), “The greatest crime committed during the reign of the Islamic Republic, for which history will condemn us, has been committed by you. Your (names) will in the future be etched in the annals of history as criminals.” He adds, “Executing these people while there have been no new activities (by the prisoners) means that … the entire judicial system has been at fault.”http://bit.ly/2s17Agw

THE MEK AND THE FREE IRAN RALLY

THE MEK AND THE FREE IRAN RALLY

By INU Staff
INU - Over 100,000 dignitaries, politicians and activists will gather in Paris this Saturday to support the Iranian people and their call for regime change in Iran at the Free Iran rally.
The annual rally, organised by the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), has attracted supporters of the Resistance from around the world, as far afield as Saudi royalty, US lawmakers, and European national security experts.
The MEK is the biggest member group within the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), a coalition of Resistance groups, which together serve as a government in exile in France.
MEK Beginnings
The MEK can be traced back over 40 years, before the fall of the Iranian Shah in 1979. They helped to overthrow Shah Reza Pahlavi’s in the hopes of establishing a democratic government who would rule on behalf of the Iranian people, however, this was not to be.
Ruhollah Khomenei and his supporters co-opted the popular revolution in order to further subjugate the people of Iran. They took over and established a theocracy, which imposes a fundamentalist reading of Islam onto the people, rather than a democracy that was needed.
The MEK spoke out against this, noting that the Iranian Regime was barely even paying lip service to democracy by holding sham elections and having Khomenei take over as Supreme Leader and essentially serve as the dictator of Iran.
The Regime did not take kindly to this and quickly began to persecute the MEK for speaking out against them, eventually criminalising association with the MEK and imprisoning many. Most of the leaders of the MEK were forced into exile in Iraq, where they tried to bring down this second dictatorship.
Unfortunately, these efforts just led to violence of behalf of the Regime.

IRANIAN OPPOSITION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN ORDER FOR THE REGIME TO BE OVERTHROWN

IRANIAN OPPOSITION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN ORDER FOR THE REGIME TO BE OVERTHROWN

INU - Last week, Iran launched several ballistic missiles into Syria, with ISIS being the apparent target. Not long after this incident, a US fighter aircraft shot down a Syrian jet. The following day, a US jet shot an Iran-made drone that was heading towards a US-backed rebel outpost from the sky in southern Syria.

IRAN: REGIME CHANGE IS ESSENTIAL

By INU Staff
INU - In the midst of a policy review on Iran, US officials are calling on President Trump to help topple the Iranian regime. They say that this is the only way to put an end to the malign behaviour and terrorist activities that the regime has been displaying for years.

Iran’s missile launches: A sign of strength or weakness?

By Heshmat Alavi
How should we evaluate Iran’s medium-range missile strikes, boasted by the mullahs as an official response to the June 7th twin attacks allegedly staged by ISIS in Tehran? As a sign of strength showing Iran’s ability to take on ISIS while also sending a message to all adversaries, most importantly Washington? Or a desperate attempt by the mullahs to maintain a straight face against increasing domestic and foreign crises?
Iran last resorted to such drastic measures of launching ballistic missiles from its soil back in the final days of the Iran-Iraq war in 1988 after suffering major defeats, and once again in 2001 against former bases of the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Iraq in response to a vast opposition camp inside the country. This proves Tehran will fall to such lows when pinned against the wall as a last resort.
The question is, why would Iran launch expensive medium-range missiles, knowing it has yet to perfect a precision guiding system (as three of the seven missiles landed in Iraq and three others were far off their targets in Deir Ezzur)? Furthermore, Iran boasts of having tens of thousands proxy shock troops in Syria propping the Assad regime and there are also reports of Tehran launching missile factories in Syria. So why the need to use such poorly guided medium-range missiles from their own turf?
This was nothing but a publicity stunt following the June 7th attacks, and Iran seeking to take advantage of the entire scenario to press the gas pedal on domestic crackdown and justify their foreign meddling in the Middle East and beyond. I have explained my thoughts extensively in a Forbes and Al Arabiya English article.http://bit.ly/2tMJiII

Iran’s Impasse and the “Sanctions Black Hole”

The current plan for sanctions against Iran leaves the regime between a proverbial rock and hard place, since its choices are comply or die.
The adoption of “Countering Iran’s Destabilizing Activities Act of 2017” by the United States Senate has rendered a variety of reactions from Iran resembling the terrified status of the regime’s senior ranks. Iranian media have widely referred to this new bill and the resulting authorizations as the “mother of all sanctions” and the “sanctions black hole.”
“Section 5 of this bill is related to new sanctions against the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). This new bill is dubbed the ‘sanctions black hole’ considering the fact that based on Executive Order 13224, any individual providing services to an identified organization in this Executive Order, that individual or his/her entity will be placed on the US sanctions list or the SDN… with the adoption and implementation of this bill, we can forecast that a few thousand individuals will be placed in the SDN sanctions list…,” according to IRGC-affiliated semi-official Fars news agency.
Based on the articles of this new bill, any individual or entity in cooperation with the IRGC will be sanctioned. Iran’s concerns are not over the mere military aspect of the IRGC sanctions, as the economic impact is of grave importance.
For decades the IRGC has monopolized most of Iran’s economy – extracting oil, taking over a large percentage of Iran’s imports/exports and a number of airliners. As a result, these new sanctions bear the potential to literally paralyze Tehran’s entire economy. From the mullahs’ perspective, the new sanctions will be imposing economic suffocation and regime experts believe these new measures enjoy a far broader reach than the pre-Iran nuclear deal sanctions.http://bit.ly/2sQ1zqy

MEK Network Changes the Scene of Iran's Presidential Election

London, 19 May - In the final day or so before the so-called presidential “election” in Iran between incumbent President Hassan Rouhani and Ebrahim Raisi, a cleric with close ties to the Supreme Leader, the scene on the ground is far different from the portrait painted by the regime’s state-run media and some western outlets.
The vast network of dissidents supporting the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has come alive in unprecedented scale to voice the true feelings of the Iranian people about the candidates and the regime in its entirety.
Cities and towns across the country, including major metropolitan centers such as Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, Tabriz and Shiraz, have been scenes of brave activists daring many odds and challenges to put up large posters and images of Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi from bridges and overpasses, car windshields and even the walls of buildings belonging to the regime’s security forces, such as the Revolutionary Guards Bassij.

Such support for the MEK inside Iran is considered utterly forbidden and the activists face apprehension, torture and possibly even execution. MEK supporter Gholamreza Khosravi was jailed and eventually executed for merely providing financial support for an MEK-affiliated satellite TV network in 2014.
While Iran’s presidential election is a game played by the regime every four years, MEK activists have gone the limits to raise voice for a national boycott of the polls scheduled for May 19th. Many of the posters and leaflets read in Farsi:
“My Vote Maryam Rajavi”, “No to executioner Raisi, No to Demagogue Rouhani, Our Vote Regime Change”, and “Down with the mullahs’ regime, Down with Khamenei, Hail to Rajavi”.
Various Western websites have provided coverage for these activities, including Forbes, Huff Post and Washington Examiner, and Al Arabiya English representing the Middle East voice.
The scope of this campaign has penetrated the walls of Iran’s notorious prisons as a group of political prisoners in Gohardasht Prison of Karaj, west of Tehran, issued a letter calling on their fellow countrymen to boycott the ballot boxes.
“… in one voice and hand in hand with people from all walks of life in our enchained country, we boycott this ridiculous façade and announce our demand for a free and fair election under international supervision to establish a free society based on the rule and freedom of all its people, without any gender, ethnic, religious and… segregation, and to be founded based on the Universal Deceleration of Human Rights.”
Rajavi, whose series of tweets on Wednesday gained coverage by Al Arabiya English, also issued a statement denouncing the entire sham election fiasco launched by the mullahs’ regime.
“The upcoming election sham, as it has always been the case, is just a ritual of dividing the power among the factions which make up the ruling religious tyranny. It does not enjoy any legitimacy among the people of Iran. The outcome, whatever it be, is rejected and disdained by the Iranian people and Resistance. In any case, the crisis-riddle clerical regime will emerge weaker and more vulnerable in the wake of this election,” Rajavi said.http://bit.ly/2rytG9H

Iran's triangle of fear

There is a Persian proverb saying those fearing the dark scream to overcome their fears.  Iran, considering its domestic and foreign dilemmas, resembles that very individual who is afraid of the dark and is screaming to overcome its fears.
On Wednesday, June 7, Iran was attacked by terrorists in a twin assault that ISIS claimed responsibility for, targeting the parliament and the tomb of the regime's founder.  In contrast to others victimized by terrorism, Tehran actually welcomed this attack and portrays itself as the victim.
Iran was under intense pressure from an international coalition against its measures in the Middle East and needed an escape route.  Tehran sought to cloak the reality of being the central banker of international terrorism.  The position taken by U.S. president Donald Trump and a recent Senate resolution became impassable hurdles.  To this end, Iran began broadcasting fake news accusing the U.S., Saudi Arabia, and Iran's main opposition coalition.
"[A] filthy regional war came to life following the June 7th incident led by Trump, [Iranian opposition leader] Maryam Rajavi and [Saudi Foreign Minister] Adel al-Jubeir," according to a report by Iran's semi-official Fars news agency.  "[T]he positions are taken by various countries after the terrorist incident indicated their relations to the terror campaigners and those who planned it. Trump resorted to a certain language signaling threats and revenge. Trump used terms better resembling the truth of US policy vis-à-vis the Middle East. Each party has revealed their mentality regarding terrorism, terror attacks[.] ... [T]he truth is the policy of terror, fear and spreading hatred is continuing by the Trump-Jubeir-Maryam Rajavi triangle[.]"http://bit.ly/2rGDBcS

From Iran, Rouhani's first two weeks in office the worst on record

« What is the Democratic platform? | Addressing Canada, Obama is out of ideas »

By Hassan Mahmoudi
This week, Iran's newly re-elected president, Hassan Rouhani, will mark his first 14 days as president in his second term.
For the Western foreign policy elite, the main question is whether Rouhani is willing to curb the domination of the IRGC (Iran's Revolutionary Guards) and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's governing entities over Iran's economy.  And would Rouhani be able to oppose Iran's disastrous wars in Syria, Yemen, and Iraq?
Are there any chances of economic growth in Iran after the victory of Rouhani?
To answer these questions, we have to follow the events, assertions, and internal and external power struggles, to follow the balance of forces in terms of political, social, and economic points of view.
Economy and power struggle inside
Rouhani has defended his economic record and called for further engagement with other countries as the key to economic growth.  But Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the country's ultimate authority, has ruled out any further rapprochement with the West, with no interest in relying on foreign investment to revive the country's economy.
In Iran, the supreme leader controls much of economy through 14 major entities, including the IRGC, whereas Iran's president has no influence on government policies.
Iran's oil revenue gains after President Obama's nuclear deal led to the costs of the war in the Middle East, especially Syria.
On May 15, 2017, Masoud Khansari, head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, said: http://bit.ly/2smhz3H

Maryam Rajavi Addresses "Interfaith Solidarity Against Extremism"

Maryam Rajavi and a number of prominent personalities from Arab countries and the Muslim community in France took part in a gathering on June 3, 2017, in Auvers-sur-Oise during the holy month of Ramadan. The meeting was entitled “Interfaith Solidarity Against Extremism.”
The participants initially visited a photo exhibition, “Carnage and mass killings, from Iran to Syria.” Photos of martyrs of the Iranian and Syrian resistance, as well as images from popular demonstrations in Syria against the Assad regime were on display.
In her remarks to the gathering, Maryam Rajavi said:
Distinguished guests,
Dear sisters and brothers, from Palestine, Syria, Bahrain, Yemen, and other countries, who have joined this Iftar reception hosted by the Iranian Resistance,
And dear sisters and brothers who are attending this ceremony from different parts of France,
Happy Ramadan!http://bit.ly/2ssT1mA

Iran Will Not Change With Rouhani – Daily Caller Oped

The Iranian regime’s political and economic isolation will continue as the regime is unable to bend on key issues, writes dissident writer Hassan Mahmoudi, adding that the international community sees no security in investing in Iran.
In an article on Friday for The Daily Caller, Mahmoudi points out that the solution to the Iran crisis is regime change.
He added that last month Hassan Rouhani was “re-elected” as the Iranian regime’s President amidst various cases of fraud, vote rigging and embarrassing measures to portray the polling stations as crowded.
“However, Iran’s president is subordinate to the supreme leader Ali Khamenei,” the article states.
“Iran’s elections is far from free or fair. The president is first vetted as a candidate by a clerical panel called the Guardian Council, affiliated to the supreme leader.”
“The supreme leader stands at the apex of Iran’s complex political–religious dictatorship. He has veto power over all policies and ultimate control of the security forces. Iran’s supreme leader controls much of economy through 14 main entities, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). Rouhani’s freedom of action in foreign policy is also heavily circumscribed by the Supreme Leader’s authority.”
The op-ed further pointed out: Iran’s 12th presidential election came at a critical time. The economy is deteriorated, inflation is, parallel to skyrocketing, unemployment, shortages, poverty, sleeping in graveyards, mine explosion incidents, skyscraper fire disasters, lack of free competition, the monopoly of the Supreme Leader and the IRGC, deterioration of human rights, and the high cost of military intervention in Syria. “The main concerns of business in Iran is around the issue of stability and peace,” said Masoud Khansary, head of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce http://bit.ly/2qQQIb0.

Iran: Factional Disputes Continuing Over Presidential Election Vote Rigging

NCRI - Iranian government spokesman Bahram Ghasemi responded to recent remarks stated by former presidential candidate Ebrahim Raisi.
“It is not right to use terms such as election engineering. The entire election process was carried out under the Guardian Council’s supervision,” he said.
Mohammad Bagher Nobakht, Secretary-General of the Moderation and Development Party, said to judiciary chief Sadegh Larijani, “I suggest the judiciary chief to raise his issues in the Supreme National Security Council and not resort to making public remarks.” (State-run IRIB TV – May 30)
“Using the term engineered election, Raisi crossed many red lines… Even the media faces a challenge of publishing his remarks, and also crossing red lines,” according to the state-run Hamdeli daily.
“There are those encouraging the undermining of election results. This is dangerous for the political future of the Islamic Republic of Iran. One must see what is the opinion of the Guardian Council in response to all this suspicion,” according to the state-run Tadbeer 24 daily on May 30.
“Vote rigging in the presidential election is a paradox for the principalists. This same camp in 2009 defended Iran’s election process, claiming vote rigging and fraud is impossible… Finally, the principalists will not force another election, knowing they will fail once again,” according to the state-run Fararu daily on May 30.
